Gullcos KAT automation carriage can be used for both welding and cutting. In the video below the application is being used to make a bevel cut with an oxy fuel cutting process.
The KAT carriage is simple on the outside but sophisticated on the inside as it travels along the rigid track using a rack and pinion drive system and maintains the set speed during the entire cutting process.
The thickness of the steel is in the video is 90mm and at the end shows a consistent, quality finish in the cut. A smooth, consistent cut will help improve the accuracy of the fit up when going to weld the workpiece. The more inconsistent the bevel is, the more weld deposit needed to fill the gap.
A broad range of applications exist for the carriage, particularly in a field like shipbuilding wher automated processes can save money in material and man hours.
