Ontario-based auto supplier Magna International Inc. announced the grand opening of its newest facility.
The Autotek Morelos plant is a new greenfield facility in Emiliano Zapata, Morelos, Mexico, and was designed for the assembly of automotive chassis products.
The 130,000-square-foot facility will produce structural welded assemblies for global automakers including Nissan, and is expected to employ approximately 300 people at full production.
This is the companys 31st facility in Mexico, with the first one, Autotek Puebla, opening in 1991. Magna currently employs more than 24,000 employees in Mexico.
Company officials were joined by members of state and local government as well as customers to celebrate the occasion.
