The Canadian Machine Tool Distributors’ Association (CMTDA) held their annual general meeting November 22, at The Country Club in Woodbridge, Ontario.
The CMTDA President Frank Haydar addressed the group and discussed the state of the industry in his speech.
“Returning from IMTS 2012, I continue to view the near future of our industry with great expectations. The attendance surpassed 100,000 visitors – an increase of almost 22 per cent over the 2010 event. Those of us who were there came back energized and full of optimism,” he said.
As discussed though, the overall trend for the industry (following a boom year in 2011) was a fairly flat this year. CNC metal cutting machine sales were down by 4 per cent, though metal forming presses were up by 16 per cent.
