Airbus Military has announced they have formed a partnership with the Canadian group Discovery Air to bid on a contract from Canadian Search and Rescue (SAR).

The CEO of Discovery Air, Brian Semkowski, and the SVP Commercial of Airbus Military, Antonio Rodriguez-Barberan, announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to offer a solution for the Canadian Fixed Wing Search and Rescue (FWSAR) Program.

Under the terms of the agreement Discovery Air, as the primary Canadian partner to Airbus Military (AM), will provide the in-service support for the program.

In a statement, Semkowski said, We are delighted to be able to offer this solution in conjunction with Airbus Military to the Canadian Forces. We are very excited about the C295 aircraft.”

We believe that Discovery Air is ideally placed to provide the 20 year support package that will be required for this program, he said.

The C295 aircraft is used as a SAR platform in 17 countries.

A number of the aircraft will be based in the North, and designating as dedicated SAR assets which will allow for better response to remote areas.
