Organizers of the newly-expanded Montreal Manufacturing Technology Show (MMTS) – to be held May 14-16 at Montreal’s Place Bonaventure – have announced that they will be extending the show’s hours for a special evening offered exclusively for independent job shops across the province.
On Tuesday, May 15 from 4:00-8:00 p.m., job shop owners, staff and their adult family members will have no-charge access to an expansive exhibition of the latest manufacturing technologies on today’s market, and an opportunity to mingle with former Montreal Canadiens and Quebec Nordiques hockey player Gilbert Delorme. Evening participants will also be one of the first to enjoy a complimentary smoked meat dinner from Schwartz’s Deli under the new ownership of Celine Dion and her husband, Rene Angelil. What’s more, discounted parking and hotel deals are being offered to those looking to stay in Montreal overnight.
“Independent job shops are the backbone of Quebec’s manufacturing industry, which is key to the province’s economic health, and we understand how important it is for smaller suppliers to stay current and informed of new industry developments,” said Nick Samain, Group Show Manager with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), organizer of MMTS. “Our goal is to make it easier for Quebec businesses to find solutions, and network with colleagues and potential customers under one roof in an easy-going, enjoyable atmosphere.”
MMTS is the premier manufacturing gathering in Quebec representing a cross-section of more than 20 manufacturing industries. With an opening keynote address by Canadian senator and former CFLer Larry Smith, the event will highlight key advances in such areas as high-speed machining, metal fabricating, automation, robotics energy, efficiency, lean manufacturing and much more. Key larger exhibitors include: Sandvik, Elliott Matsuura, Machineries BV, Huron, Isotop, Megatel, Ellison/Mori Seiki, AW Miller/Mazak, Emec/Okuma, OMAX, Trumpf, Prima Finn Power and many more.
This year’s event is also bigger than ever, featuring a 15 per cent increase in show floor space, a re-vitalized educational component and more opportunities for networking through on-site interactive sessions and social media. It is produced in partnership with the Canadian Machine Tool Distributors’ Association (CMTDA), Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME), Canadian Tooling and Machining Association (CTMA), Canadian Wind Energy Association (CANWEA), Quebec Aerospace Association (AQA) and Les Affaires.
