Ford recalls 2007-8 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKXFord is issuing another safety recall, this time for 205,000 vehicles for possible corrosion issues that can possible result in fire. The 2007-2008 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles in states and provinces in North America wher corrosion rates are high are asked to be cautious as  possible corrosion under the reinforcement brackets wher the fuel tank is mounted to the vehicle can cause problems.

Affected vehicles include certain 2007-2008 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles built at Oakville Assembly, from June 15, 2006 to Sept. 22, 2008. Ford is aware of 186,024 vehicles in the United States and federalized territories, and 18,424 vehicles in Canada.

This condition may result in a fuel odor, fuel leak or potentially a check engine light. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire. Ford is aware of one fire that may be related to this condition, with no injuries and no accidents.

Affected vehicles include those that are currently registered or were originally sold in the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Quebec. In the United States, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia and Wisconsin were also affected.
