The Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) has received its 100th CP-140 Aurora Third Level Inspection and Repair Program (TLIR) aircraft from IMP Aerospace. Following a brief ceremony at its Halifax Stanfield International Airport operation, IMP Aerospace handed over the Aurora aircraft, which is a multi-role, long-range patrol air asset, capable of supporting Canadas Land, Sea and Air Forces throughout the world and maintaining surveillance of all three coasts and littoral waters.

We are proud of this milestone achievement in delivering the 100th heavy maintenance TLIR aircraft and look forward to continuing our support to this strategic asset throughout its entire life cycle, stated Tom Galley, IMP Aerospaces Executive Vice President.

The Aurora fleet entered service in 1981 and began maintenance inductions at IMP Aerospace in 1984.  The Aurora fleet is now in its sixth TLIR cycle.

IMP Aerospace has supported the CP-140 Aurora fleet since its entry into service with the RCAF.  Through these years, IMP has developed significant knowledge and experience on maintaining and modernizing the aircraft to meet the operational requirements of the RCAF, explained Galley.

IMP Aerospace is incrementally modernizing and completing a life extension program replacing the wings and horizontal stabilizers, as well as installing state-of-the-art navigation and flight instruments, communications and mission systems to permit the aircraft to operate effectively beyond year 2030.

IMP Aerospace has over 50 years of In-Service Support (ISS) engineering and maintenance experience supporting a number of Department of National Defence aircraft with over 1,800 technical staff in locations across Canada.  IMP Aerospace is one of only two Lockheed Martin Authorized P-3 Service Centers in the world.
