Oshawa, Ontario — There is some good news on the horizon for General Motors. They are reporting a 25 per cent increase of sales over the previous year. Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac dealers delivered 23,973 vehicles.

These number sharply contrast the previous months figures, which saw a dro of 15 per cent in total sales in June 2014 compared with June 2013.  According to DesRosiers Automotive Constultants report, sales for all automakers gained 2.2 per cent in June 2014. However, this was not the case for GM. Perhaps their Employee Pricing program helped boost sales for the July report.

“GM Canada is seeing solid growth in many parts of our business, with sales up calendar-year-to-date driven by the strong customer demand for our Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac cars and trucks,” said John Roth, vice president, sales, service and marketing.

July 2014 Sales Highlights

Total Chevrolet sales for the month of July were up 21 per cent. Sales were primarily driven by the Camero, which sales were up 189 per cent, the Malibus sales were up 114 per cent. The Trax, Equinox, and Silverado were also good performers.

Total Buick sales for the month of July were up 61 per cent. These impressive July numbers are a relief, seeing as Buick hasnt had a strong July since 2005. The sales performance was successful because of models like the Verano, which was up 90 per cent, and the Regal, up 190 per cent. Other models that saw increased sales figures include Lacrosse, Encore, and Enclave.

Total GMC sales for the month of July were up 25 per cent, the best July for GMC since 1986. The high performer was the all-new Yukon and Yukon XL with 151 per cent increase.

Total Cadillac sales for the month of July were up 33 per cent. July is Cadillac’s 22nd consecutive month of retail sales growth, with its Escalade up by 112 per cent, XTS up 100 per cent in sales, along with the  ATS and SRX performing well.

Total GM Canada sales were up 25 per cent in July 2014, which is a great relief from the previous months slump.
