Our government is proud to support research projects like this that create jobs and support the growth of Canadas economy. This investment will help maintain Canada as a leader in marine technology research and allow Dominis Engineering to expand its market reach, said James Moore, Industry Minister.

Through the Strategic Aerospace and Defence Initiative (SADI), the Government of Canada is making a repayable contribution of $544,500 to support research and development by Dominis.

The Ottawa company  produces high-precision marine propellers, propeller blades, impellers and turbines. Dominis is working towards advancing new production processes for large naval propellers, builiding state-of-the-art marine products, and keeping up-to-date with marine technology. Dominis develops the necessary tooling, fixtures and CAD/CAM programming for design, measurement and CNC milling of parts such as propellers, impellers and turbine runner blades to final form and finish. Their facilities include large 5-axis CNC mills, boring mills and lathes as well as a full complement of inspection instruments.

Its all about keeping the company and Canada competitive.

By supporting Dominiss advanced manufacturing R&D, our government is helping the company to grow its industry presence and partner with talented student researchers, agreed Royal Galipeau, Member of Parliament for Ottawa–Orléans.

Industry Canadas SADI provides repayable contributions to support research and development projects in the aerospace, space, defence and security sectors. The company recently supplied 20 propeller blades for Canadian patrol frigates.
