ABBOTSFORD, BC — Tradex in Abbotsford is the venue for this years Aerospace, Defence and Security Expo (ADSE). Abbotsford is a prime choice to hold an event like this due to its location. This city offers an international airport (YXX) and is in B.C.s Fraser Valley. It is also minutes from the Canadian-U.S. border. But what is more, Abbotsford is a hub for the Aerospace Industry Association of Canadas Pacific division (AIAC).

The 2014 Aerospace, Defence & Security Expo (ADSE) is Canadas only expo connected to a major airshow, the Abbotsford International Airshow. This expo is a great opportunity to network among key federal and provincial cabinet ministers, government officials, commercial and military aerospace industry experts, and defence and security industry leaders. This years expo runs from August 7 to 8, 2014.

I am very pleased that AIAC Pacific will be hosting the 2014 Aerospace, Defence & Security Expo in Abbotsford during Airshow Week, commented the Hon. Ed Fast, MP for Abbotsford and Minister of International Trade. As one of the worlds leaders in aerospace, Canada is perfectly placed to leverage its innovation and knowledge advantage to drive economic growth and long-term prosperity for Canadians. I look forward to joining the hundreds of participants in showcasing Canadian excellence in this sector.

Holding ADSE in Abbotsford is also strategic because, being on the west, Abbotsford allows for easy access to the Pacific Northwest and facilities such as Boeings final assembly and integration production lines in Seattle, as well as the important Asia Pacific aerospace marketplace.

Almost half of the worlds air-traffic growth will be connected to/or within the Asia Pacific region in the next 20 years. At the same time global airplane sales, for both fleet growth and replacement of aging aircraft, will total 35,000 units for a value of more than $4.8 trillion.

Asia Pacific is a key market for Canadas aerospace industry. Companies located on the west coast are perfectly situated to take advantage of this opportunity, which is made even greater by the B.C. governments recent funding contribution, said Jim Quick, president and CEO of AIAC.

The AIAC Pacific team is also developing a strategic, dynamic web presence to bring the provinces aerospace voices and interests together and showcase B.C. industry success stories.
