Protech Chemicals Ltd of Montreal, Canada has reached an agreement with NPA Coatings, a subsidiary of Nippon Paints Japan, to acquire the Seibert powder coatings business.

Protech will continue the manufacturing operations in Cleveland, Ohio. The deal is expected to close by mid-November 2013.

The acquisition of NPA’s powder business allows us to expand into new markets, particularly the automotive sector in which NPA is a leader, stated David Ades, Managing Director of Protech.

Protech develops, and produces thermoset and thermoplastic powder coatings. They produce coatings under the Protech, Prolux, Oxyplast, Thermoclad and Innotek labels. The company has eight production facilities in the Americas and Europe and 15 licensees in South America, the Middle East, and Asia.

Protech is a privately held company headquartered in Montreal, Canada.
