MonTREAL Aerolia has announced it will use a site at Montreals Mirabel Airport for a new fuselage plant.
The company, which is based out of France and a member of the EADS Group, will use this facility to make the centre fuselage for Bombardiers Global 7000 and 8000 business jets.
The lease agreement includes an initial 15-year period, and has three five-year renewal options.
Aéroports de Montreal (ADM) manages the Montreal-area airports and will build and lease a facility customized to Aerolias production needs.

Starting in January 2014, the 7,300-square-metre building will house the headquarters of Aerolias Canadian subsidiary as well as assembly shops.
We are very excited about the prospect of coming to Montreal-Mirabel because this site will provide us with an excellent environment for the success of the Aerolia group in Canada and its development in North America, stated Marie-Agnès Veve, President and Chief Executive Officer of Aerolia Canada.
For ADM, this agreement-in-principle represents an initial investment of $9.5 million and is expected to create about 150 jobs.
Montreal-Mirabel is already a major aerospace hub, and is home to several major industry firms like Bombardier, Pratt & Whitney, L-3 MAS, and Mecachrome.
We are extremely proud to be joining forces with Aerolia and to test a new type of partnership with this company that could eventually be used to facilitate the implementation of other industrial development projects at either of our airports, said Charles A. Gratton, ADMs Vice-President, Real Estate and Commercial Services.
Aerolia had sales of $1.4 billion with clients Airbus and Bombardier in 2012.
