Gibbs and Associates, the developers of GibbsCAM software for programming CNC machine tools, have announced the introduction of their GibbsCAM Student Edition.
The resource material will be available internationally, and was released concurrently with the company’s new online “Student Store”, wher the user can download the program.
The Student Edition, which complements the GibbsCAM Classroom Edition, is available immediately to NC programming or machining students of high schools, technical schools, colleges and universities already using GibbsCAM.
The Student Edition is compatible with the Classroom Edition and can be purchased and downloaded from the Student Store. There is a $100.00 (USD) license fee for a calendar year to students enrolled in a qualified curriculum.
“The introduction of a GibbsCAM Student Edition addresses the growing need and pent-up student demand for GibbsCAM licenses that can be used outside the classroom,” states Robb Weinstein, Senior Vice President of Sales and Strategic Planning of Gibbs and Associates.
The Student Edition of GibbsCAM enables students to learn and practice NC programming, and gain familiarity with common configurations of CNC machine tools, on their home-based PCs.
It includes solid modeling, 3D milling and turning, and polar and cylindrical (rotary), plus machine simulation and the ability to read ACIS and SAT files, such as SolidWorks and AutoDesk Inventor.
The current GibbsCAM product line supports 2- through 5-axis milling, turning, mill/turning, multi-task simultaneous machining and wire-EDM and is compatible with Windows 7 and certified for Windows Vista.
In January 2008, Gibbs and Associates merged with Cimatron Ltd., and is now operating as a wholly owned subsidiary. For more information visit: www.GibbsCAM.com
