Makino has announced a line up of online seminars that focus on improving machining efficiencies and productivity to improve global competitiveness.
The schedule includes a variety of new technology and processing techniques for improved speed, accuracy and part quality ideal for growing North American manufacturers.
The North American manufacturing industry continues to grow, especially in the automotive and aerospace markets, said Mark Rentschler, director of marketing at Makino. The webinars that we have scheduled for the first half of 2015 address ways for manufacturers to be as efficient as possible as they handle this expansion. From information on broken-tool detection and lift-up chip conveyors to achieving better machine utilization and improving productivity for large-part production, attendees will gain the experience necessary to make them more globally competitive.
Since its inception, the Makino online seminar series has broadcast 150 events with thousands of attendees. Each online seminar consists of a 20- to 30-minute presentation and a live Q&A session with the speaker. Registration is required to attend, but all seminars are presented free of charge.
Makino plans to add more online seminar topics throughout the year and post them at makino.com/webinars upon announcement. For an archive of Makino online seminars, visit makino.com/library.
2015 online Seminar Schedule
January 15 – TechCast: T1 Fracking Block Processing
Recorded live at IMTS 2014, this TechCast provides detailed insights into the processing of a fracking block on the T1 5-axis horizontal machining. Learn about several key features of the machine, and see how its unique features and kinematic structure enable highly flexible, highly productive performance in the processing of large components with multi-face features. Watch it today.
February 12 – Improved Productivity for Large-Part Production
It’s no surprise that the parts machined for the construction, truck, auto and diesel engine markets require larger machines. Large parts with large features necessitate this. What is unusual is to see the machines in the category significantly reduce part processing times. Would a 30 percent reduction in rigid tapping time provide a competitive advantage in the production of your large part? Join us in this webinar to learn about Makino’s exciting new a81nx machine and how it can significantly improve large-part productivity. This new addition to the highly successful nx-Series HMC product line carries on the tradition of expanding capacity, performance and reliability. Register now.
March 12 – Proper selecion and Economics of Lift-Up Chip Conveyors (LUCC)
With a variety of materials, associated chip configurations and coolants in today’s manufacturing environment, selecting the right LUCC can be a challenge. This webinar addresses the major factors, such as material, chip types, volumes, coolant, filtration and maintenance, which must be considered when selecting a LUCC for metal-cutting applications. Various different LUCC designs, including hinged-belt, scraper, magnetic and combination, and the associated economics, are also going to be discussed. Register now.
April 16 – The True Operational Impact of Wire EDM Maintenance
Take an in-depth look at different maintenance procedures required to keep your wire EDM productive, and how this impacts your profitability. The cost of replacement and consumable parts and non-productive machine downtime are going to be evaluated, as well as how new machine designs have dramatically reduced these daily, weekly and monthly maintenance requirements. Register now.
May 14 – Die Mold Automation: Achieving 80 percent Machine Utilization Rates Through Systemic Planning, Scheduling and Management
It is now practical to realize dramatic improvements in machine utilization rates from a traditional level of 30 percent, up to and exceeding 80 percent, even in the manufacture of low-volume, high-precision, discreet die or mold components. This can be achieved through a systematic approach of programming, integrated and standardized tooling, work/machine scheduling, as well as management of data and work flow. Learn about these methods and how to implement them in this webinar. Register now.
July 16 – Broken-Tool Detection: Good, Better, Best
Broken-tool detection can be very beneficial, ensuring that the tool is functional, and preventing potentially dangerous and costly machine accidents, part quality issues and lost production. However, broken-tool detection, if implemented incorrectly, can also increase part cycle times and escalate manufacturing costs. This webinar focuses on various methodologies, techniques, tools and the latest technology developments, including digital imaging, in broken-tool detection. Register now.
