This years IMTS will feature some great products, interesting presentations, and interactions with industry professionals. And if you are keens, it can also include an exciting new mid-week early morning event that will help raise money for the Austin Polytechnical Academy located on Chicagos West Side.

On Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 7 a.m. the Miles for Manufacturing 5K run/walk hosted by GIE Media and IMTS will make its debut. Registration is open for the run/walk; come and out and join the fun.

Austin Polytech was founded by the Chicago Manufacturing Renaissance Council in 2007 to educate the next generation of leaders in advanced manufacturing. Students learn about careers in all aspects of the industry, from skilled production and engineering to management and company ownership.

Peter Eelman, AMT Vice President – Exhibitions and Communications said, “As we plan IMTS, we work hard to offer our exhibitors and visitors a complete experience. This is a great way to bring our community together outside the show floor and enjoy the beauty of September in Chicago. We’d love to see the entire IMTS community come out for this event. Even if you are not a runner or distance walker, come cheer us on.”

Whether you are looking to visit specific booths, purchase equipment, or just enjoy the show, definitely check out the Miles for Manufacturing 5k run/walk. This scenic route will allow you to get out and enjoy the Chicago cityscape while raising money for a good cause. Not only will the students of Austin Polytech benefit from the funding, but its a great way to raise awareness about manufacturing education and skilled trades and connect members of the manufacturing industry.
