TORonTOThe Canadian Welding Association (CWA) will be hosting their fourth annual, flagship symposium, the CanWeld Conference (CWC) in Niagara Falls October 28-29, 2013.
Over 30 guest speakers with expertise in the latest welding trends and technologies in automotive, business of welding, construction, energy, NDE and shipbuilding will be on hand for the conference.
“This conference is the largest of its kind in Canada and we ensure there’s something for everybody involved in the welding industry,” said Dan Tadic, executive director of the CWA.
“This year’s CanWeld Conference will be the largest and most diversified in terms of number of guest speakers and topics discussed. This is an industry related conference that can’t be missed.”
The event will feature a number of keynote speakers, including:
- John Goldak, who will focus on web based simulation of welding and welded structures in the automotive industry
- Peter Warren, presenting an in-depth analysis of the future of the Canadian steel industry as part of the business of welding
- Don Matthews will talk about the building of the Rogers Centre in Toronto from a construction industry perspective
- Viwek Vaidya will discuss safety and CSA W59 advanced inspection methods
- Joel Pepin will have a talk for those interested in the shipbuilding industry as he will focus on manipulating the SAW voltage and current waveforms to control welding productivity and quality.
“I’ve been involved in the welding industry for decades, and from a personal level, I’m even excited to attend this conference, not only because of the quality and variety of presenters which will be very educational, but the networking aspect of it also creates a buzz for me,” said Mr. Tadic.

The Canadian Welding Association (CWA) has been supporting the Canadian welding and joining industry since the early 1920s. It is a non-for-profit division of the Canadian Welding Bureau Group (CWB Group), the CWA is a national membership driven organization that provides a forum for industry professionals to share information and resources to further advance the trade.
