Mahr Federal has introduced a new version of its MMQ 200 Formtester Cylindricity Machine with an automated T7W probing system.

The T7W is a ±360° motorized by-directional probe intended to reduce operator involvement and improve measurement capability. Complete with Mahrs newest EasyForm Version 3.0 software, the MMQ 200 is compact, fast, easy to learn and operate, and is at home in the metrology lab or on the shop floor.

Automated probe positioning means an operator can put a part on the machine, walk away, and the whole measurement can be done automatically, says Pat Nugent, vice president for metrology systems at Mahr Federal. Since manual probe rotation is subject to human error, a secondary benefit of automated probe positioning is greater accuracy of position, and hence, improved accuracy and repeatability for the whole measurement process.

The intuitive user interface of the MMQ 200s EasyForm 3 software guides users through measurement setup and operation. Multi-feature measurement routines can be easily set up and saved, and measurement operations are fast and virtually automatic. Up to 32 measuring routines can be saved for automatic operation via function keys. For example, a roundness measurement can be taken with just two steps.
