FABTECH Day 2 kicked off earlier this morning, with the doors opening at 9 a.m., attendees are already piling in on this second day.

Our day started with a morning presentation by TRUMPF, focusing on the theme Power to Perform. After being welcomed by president and CEO, Peter Hoecklin, visitors were shown around their booth, B1903. TRUMPF has on hand several machines that demonstrate their ability to bring products from start to finish. The live demonstration included the fabrication of a metal mug using a wide range of TRUMPF machines including the TruLaser 2030 finer, TruBend 3100, TruLaser Robot 5020, and TruMark 5020. TRUMPF also had on hand their North American premiere, TruPunch 2000 with SheetMaster Compact. See the TruPunch 2000 live in action.

Each attendee was given a keepsake, the metal cup that is being made in their production cell. Stop by TRUMPFs booth to see great demonstrations on a wide variety of machines.

Hall B offers attendees a wide range of products and machines, very large machines and booths at that. Walking through the hall, it is clear that there is so much to see. Here is a look at a various booths and equipment brought to the exhibition floor.

ABB Robotics is demonstrating the power of its articulated robotic arms in their booth, C1510. One of the features of ABB robotics is that their automation can be connected to any system. Oftentimes, companies like Lincoln Electric or Miller have partnered with specific automation companies. However, the versatility of the ABB system is such that it is able to connect to a wide variety of welding, material handling, and laser cutting devices. On the exhibit floor, ABB Robotics paired a heavy duty articulated arm with a laser cutting system to demonstrate how they can assist auto parts manufacturers on the shop floor. Check out their booth to see a wide collection of robotic arms. Watch these ABB Robotic arms in action.

At MC Machinery/Mitsubishi, the focus was definitely on education. The booth was filled with people checking out all of the machines that the company had brought to the show. However, one of the features that they were highlighting was the MC Remote 360 that allows for users, whether show owners or machine operators, as well as MC Machinery/Mitsubishi professionals, to monitor the performance of the machines. This multi-platform interface is easy to use and gives a wide range of diagnostic tools to allow for the best productivity results possible. Its all about remotely maintaining productivity levels through this management system. And, if there is a problem with the machine, MC Machinery/Mitsubishi can access the data and help solve the problem. This new feature is on all their new products, but can also be added to existing machines for up to 10 years back. Check out booth B1925.

Another stop on the agenda was the Yaskawa/Motoman booth, C1534. If you ever wanted to learn just how easy it is to program a robot arm, you dont want to miss this booth. Yaskawa/Motoman brought a wide range of their robot arms to the show, including automated welding cells. With dual welding arms, users can program the two arms to move in conjunction with one another as well as perform individual actions depending on the application. They also demonstrated the family of weld sensors that the arms can use to ensure quality. One of the main features of this booth is the ability for attendees to actually learn how to program robot arms. Oftentimes, new users think of adding automation as a challenge, especially when it comes to programming. However, one of the easier functions of Yaskawa/Motomans system is the ability to manually move the arm into positions and then have them playback, making set up and movements easy to control.

If you want to see some machines in action, definitely check out the LVD STRIPPIT booth at B3103.

After listening to the representatives overview the various machines available, it is clear that LVD STRIPPIT prides itself on creating systems that offer a wide range of processes rolled up in a single machine. Their punching presses not only punch but can also bend and deburr, along with numerous other options for their customers fabricating needs. Visit their booth, B3013, to see their lineup of fabricating equipment.  Or watch this video of the LVD STRIPPIT PX-1530 in action.

At the closing of Day 2 of FABTECH 2014, Amada held an event to show attendees just what they have to offer.

Amada welcomed Workshop for Warriors’, Hernán Luis y Prado, to speak to the important work they do supporting veterans by offering training initiatives. Amada supports Workshop for Warriors by donating the necessary equipment to allow veterans to learn on state-of-the-art machines. Amada welcomed a young veteran who spoke about how this initiative has helped him recieve over 20 accredidations, from welding to MasterCam and everything in between. He is thankful for the program and the skills and program certificates they provide veterands. One of the most important aspects of the presentation was the importance of investing in veterans so that they can find skilled jobs in the manufacturing sectors in most need of workers.

Amada is also proud to welcome MIYACHI to their team. MIYACHI offers a wide range of laser marking, laser cutting, and resistance welding and is showcasing their lean manufacturing solutions at FABTECH.

One of the highlights of their booth include the LC-2515 C1 AJ sheet-metal machine, which offers a combination of laser cutting and punching technology. This machine eliminates secondary operations and allows for significantly higher cutting speed and reduced energy requirements. This machine can work with difficult-to-cut materials such as copper or brass.

Stop by Amada’s booth to see their wide range of products and equipment.
