Wohlhaupter’s PrimeBore precision boring head was introduced during IMTS 2014 in kit form. The kit provides a boring range of .236 to 5.04 inches (6 to 128mm). It includes three boring tools, a serrated boring tool with two serrated insert holders, and a serrated slide that attaches directly to the PrimeBore head and utilizes the larger serrated insert holder.

The PrimeBore head features vernier dial adjustment which provides a feed-in accuracy of .0001” (0,002mm) on diameter. It also features .177” (4,5mm) radial stroke adjustment and automatically defined cutting edge position. Utilizing finely adjustable external balancing weights, the head is capable of speeds of up to 12,000 rpm.
