OMAX unveiled its MAXIEM 1515 waterjet recently at IMTS 2012 in Chicago.

The new waterjet features a compact design and is suitable for a number of uses, such as in fabrication shops, metal service centers, trade schools, job shops, architectural, sign, stone and gasket shops.

The table size is 7 feet 8 inches x 5 feet 9 inches (2.3 meters x 1.8 metres) and has a maximum table load of 125 pounds/square feet, (600 kg/square metre).

The abrasive waterjet productively cuts a wide variety of materials, including metal, plastic, glass, ceramics, stone and composites without creating heat-affected zones or mechanical stresses. By cutting parts directly from the plate it also reduces set-up time and material usage.

The machine’s direct-drive pump delivers more than 90 percent of the electrical input power to the cutting nozzle, allowing for higher cutting speed than other pumps with the same size electric motor and power consumption.

The MAXIEM 1515 also uses the company’s own software, Intelli-MAX Software Suite that can calculate the precision of the velocity of a tool path at over 1,000 points per inch.
