Hardinge’s new GS 51 turning centre features Hardinge’s unique collet ready spindle to allow for better part accuracy and surface finish.
The automation machine is in addition to the GS 51 machine released in August of 2009. The automation on the GS 51 A will not be sold as a stand‐alone unit. Some level of turnkey will be required for each unit sold to properly identify the customer’s gripper type, part size, process information and more than likely will require part run‐off of some degree. The GS 51 A with automatic gantry offers a unique compact design that couples with the Hardinge GS 51 for easy installation and transportation.
The modular pallets are designed to accommodate a range of part diameters. A slant design along with auto part center increases the part storage capacity and saves valuable floor space. The automatic gantry system’s compact design reduces the travel of the part. There is no need to open the front door allowing for faster part exchange time. The typical time to load/unload the spindle is approximately nine seconds. This includes the open and close of the top mounted gantry access door.
