The LASER 4000 5Ax by GF AgieCharmilles features a completely new mechanical design, and is able to add unique and various textures to oversized moulds.

The laser texturing is particularly suitable for bumpers, instrument panels, door panels, central consoles and airbag covers for the automotive industry.

It operates in such a way that a component as big as 3 x 4 metres and as heavy as 18 tonnes can remain stationary on the floor while the machine’s axes move around it, and texture all part sides if needed. This type of movement is possible because the fourth and fifth axes are attached to the Z-axis head.

Additionally, the LASER 4000 5Ax manages 3D distortion of texture and masters texture direction related to part shape.

The texturing process is fully digitized allowing manufacturers to envision a design, preview it onscreen, and then reproduce it on a workpiece. On-board machining strategies help ensure an optimal material removal rate and accurate reproduction of the intended texture.
