JONQUIÈRE, Que.— Rio Tinto Alcan will double its production of AIRWARE alloys at its Dubuc plant in Quebec.

AIRWARE is composed of various complementary, low-density materials that are used in space programs such as NASAs Orion and Space Xs Falcon 9.

Rio Tinto said it is boosting fabrication in order to meet the requirements of a new contract with Constelliums Global Aerospace division.

Constellium, formerly Alcan Engineered Products, makes aluminum products for markets such as aerospace, mass transportation, automotive, packaging, energy and construction.

The agreement with Dubuc Works clearly demonstrates the need for our facilities to adapt to market demands, and respond to client requirements and standards. It also reminds us how important it is for our facilities to be open and flexible if we are to maintain our position among industry leaders,” said Étienne Jacques, Vice president, Rio Tinto Alcan Primary metal, Saguenay—Lac-Saint-Jean.

Construction work at the facility is underway and should continue over the next several months.
