Designed to be an affordable solution for high performance applications, the Fagor 8070 ETX CNC control system is based upon an industrial hardened Windows operating system running on an XP embedded platform, allowing the integration of on-line software configurations which in turn allows the control system to work as a true Open Architecture system.
The control system is built with a Solid State disk ensuring maximum reliability to work in harsh industrial environments. The operating system includes the FBWF (File based Write Filter) feature which provides protected disk access, to protect the 8070 CNC against viruses, hard shutdowns and un-directed software installations.
The 8070 CNC increases productivity while maintaining part finish and accuracy. Optimizing block processing time (lower than 0.5 ms) and analyzing the tool path in advance with high speed block look ahead which results in optimum part finish. Tool path transition gets smoother thanks to the predictive control feature. Mechanical stress is further minimized by applying post-interpolation filters that eliminate the resonance frequencies common to high speed machines, achieving smoother machining, better part finish and longer life span of the machine components is possible.
CAD-CAM generated programs used to design parts for molds and dies are large and require a specific CNC system treatment in order to obtain the maximum speed with the desired precision.
The 8070 CNC offers the DINDIST feature thus allowing for up to 28 axes with four separate execution channels. With the DINDIST function, it is possible to distribute the machining operations among the separate execution channels on multi-spindle lathes. Simply program the machining operations for a “single” turret, the machining operations are automatically distributed among the turrets without any calculations by the operator/programmer, thus making the 8070 an extremely simple solution for complex multi-spindle lathes.
The drives communicate with the CNC via Digital Sercos therefore it becomes possible to easily add more drive modules simply because they do not require additional cables or additional hardware expansions at the CNC. The 8070 CNC offers remote CAN I/O, modules of inputs, outputs and counters that may be placed in strategic locations of the machine depending on the requirements of the application. High accuracy absolute linear and rotary feedback systems are specially designed to offer plug n play integration to the 8070 CNC system.
