OTTAWA — Statistics Canada says the economy grew by 0.2 per cent in November.

The agency says it was the fifth straight month of increase, in real gross domestic product.

The agency says the output of goods-producing industries rose by 0.4 per cent in November, led by an increase in mining and oil and gas extraction and, to a lesser extent, in utilities.

Manufacturing and the agriculture and forestry sector declined and construction also edged down.

The output of service industries rose 0.2 per cent as retail trade, the finance and insurance sector and the public sector increased.

Wholesale trade and professional services were down.
